What are the issues with using a sweet potato starch vacuum filter
October 28, 2025
The sweet potato starch vacuum filter is a reliable, continuously operating solid-liquid separation device that has been developed in recent years. It is widely used for dehydrating starch slurries during the production of potato, sweet potato, corn, and other starches.
1. During operation, the filter cloth must be regularly and rigorously cleaned according to actual conditions to maintain proper filtration performance. If the machine is shut down, the filter cloth must be cleaned and inspected for damage, as this can cause incomplete filtration and separation or allow powder to enter other parts, causing blockage.
2. After each use of the sweet potato starch vacuum filter, the main machine must be shut down, the vacuum pump turned off, and any remaining starch on the drum must be cleaned to prevent the scraper from dragging the filter cloth downward and damaging it. After cleaning the drum, the starch slurry should be properly placed in the storage hopper to prevent starch sedimentation or damage to the agitator. This will also facilitate use in the next production run.
3. The seal sleeve of the sweet potato starch vacuum filter's drum shaft should be lubricated daily to prevent damage and maintain a well-lubricated, airtight seal.
4. When starting the sweet potato starch vacuum filter, always separate the main motor and vacuum pump motor. Be mindful of the startup sequence and avoid reverse rotation. Reversing the rotation may cause starch to be sucked into the motor, causing damage to the equipment.
5. The mechanical oil level in the reducer of the sweet potato starch vacuum filter should not be too high. New equipment should have its internal oil drained and cleaned with diesel within one week of use. After replacing the new oil, maintain a six-month oil change and cleaning frequency.
